New Report Alert! Q1 2023 Mobility Report

The Partnership’s new quarterly Mobility Report features district-wide foot traffic data, counts at specific neighborhood gateway locations, and ridership information from local subway, PATH, and Citi Bike stations.

Visitor traffic reached 80% of pre-pandemic levels, and employee return-to-office rates reached 66%, the highest recovery rates to date. In March, 97,000 daily passengers exited the subway in Flatiron and NoMad and PATH ridership surpassed 50% recovery for the first time.

Located at 350 Fifth Avenue, between 33rd and 34th Streets in Midtown, the Empire State Building serves as a stunning backdrop to the Flatiron & NoMad neighborhoods, is a go-to destination for millions of visitors, and has been the site of reportedly 250+ film and TV shoots for 90 years.

2023 Car-Free Earth Day

Car-Free Earth Day is this Saturday, April 22nd!

Hosted by the NYC Department of Transportation, Car-Free Earth Day features Open Streets in all Five Boroughs including Broadway from Times Square to Union Square, including Flatiron & NoMad, for walking, biking, and car-free strolling from 10 am – 3 pm.

Celebrate locally by playing free ping pong with SPIN New York 23 on the Flatiron South Plaza from 12 – 3 pm. Through the support of Lyft, Citi Bike will offer free unlimited 30-minute rides on a classic Citi Bike on Open Streets: Car-Free Earth Day. All riders may take advantage of the offer by using the promo code CARFREE23 in the Citi Bike app.

From January through early February, we received nearly 1,100 survey responses about the neighborhood and our work here at the Partnership. A couple takeaways:

Small Business Support Team

The NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) recently launched a new program called the Small Business Support Team (SBT).

SBT provides small business owners and entrepreneurs dedicated support they need to navigate DOB policies and procedures.

  • Persian Day Parade: Sunday, April 23 from 11 am – 5 pm, parade begins at Madison Avenue at East 39th Street and ends on East 26th between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South

  • Street Closures:
    • West 29th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue will be closed Saturdays from 8 am – 4 pm through April 29th
    • East 29th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South will be closed Saturday, April 22nd & Sunday, April 23rd from 5 am – 3 pm
