Enjoy Summer Streets This Saturday

NYC Summer Streets are here! Join us for the last one of the season this Saturday, August 15 from 7 am – 3 pm where NYC’s streets will be open for people to play, walk, run, and bike.

Take advantage of nearly eight miles of car-free streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to East Harlem including blocks of Park Avenue South through Flatiron & NoMad.

DSNY Update: Businesses Must Have new waste collection agreement with a DSNY-authorized CWZ carter

Beginning September 1, 2026, businesses located within the Midtown South Commercial Waste Zone (CWZ)–which includes the Flatiron & NoMad Neighborhoods–must have a new waste collection agreement with a DSNY-authorized CWZ carter.

If your business currently contracts directly with a private waste hauler, please note that new contracts must be signed by August 31, 2026. If a new agreement is not in place by September 1, DSNY will assign your business an authorized carter at the maximum allowable rate and minimum allowable pickup frequency.

CB5 Parks Survey: Community Board 5 is looking for your feedback on how our local parks and plazas are used as well as how you feel about these public spaces. Please take a moment to fill out the survey.

Neighborhood Activations:

  • Summer Streets: Saturday, August 15th from 7am – 3pm on Park Avenue South through Flatiron & NoMad
  • India Day Parade: Sunday, August 16th at 12pm on Madison Avenue from 38th Street to 25th Street

 

Street Closures:

  • West 20th Street between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue will be closed from 11am to 11:59pm Saturday and Sunday through 8/30/2026 as part of ongoing construction projects in the area.

 

Con Edison Work Notices:

  • Now – August 14th, from 7am – 3:30pm, Con Edison will perform ECS support work and continue hand care excavations at the intersection of East 29th Street and Fifth Avenue.
  • Now – October 30th, Con Edison will be performing gas upgrade work on West 25th Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue on weekdays from 7am – 4pm.
