ON VIEW: CONTROL NO CONTROL

The interactive art installation CONTROL NO CONTROL, created by Iregular, is on view! The luminous interactive art piece is in the form of a minimalistic geometric cube that allows up to 48 people to participate simultaneously.

Presented in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program (NYC DOT Art), CONTROL NO CONTROL is on view through January 1, 2024 on the Flatiron North Plaza.

Barbie’s 1959 Debut in the Neighborhood

In honor of this year’s holiday toy season and the recent box office hit Barbie, we’re looking back to the 1959 debut of the iconic doll at the North American International Toy Fair at 200 Fifth Avenue in Flatiron.

In her 1994 memoir Dream Doll, Ruth Handler, inventor and co-founder of toy manufacturer Mattel wrote, “my whole philosophy of Barbie was that through the doll the little girl could be anything she wanted to be.”
