UPCOMING STREET CLOSURES – mon, JUNE 8
Due to heightened security measures associated with today’s NBA Finals Game at Madison Square Garden, a security perimeter will be established in Midtown Manhattan beginning at 4:00 PM.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) will restrict both vehicular and pedestrian access within the designated security zone surrounding Madison Square Garden. Access will be limited to event ticket holders, Penn Station travelers, area employees and businesses, those with credentials, and individuals with authorized reasons for entry.
Security Perimeter (Restricted Access Beginning at 4:00 PM)
From West 30th Street to West 35th Street
Between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue
Closed to General Vehicular & Pedestrian Traffic
Seventh Avenue between West 30th Street and West 35th Street
Eighth Avenue between West 30th Street and West 35th Street
Access Points into the Security Zone
To enter the security zone, all ticket holders – whether for the event or to Penn Station – will be subject to NYPD security screening at specific entry zones:
- West 32nd Street on the west side of Sixth Avenue.
- West 33rd Street on the west side of Sixth Avenue.
- Northeast corner of West 29th Street on Seventh Avenue.
- Northeast corner of West 30th Street on Eighth Avenue.
- Southeast corner of West 34th Street on Eighth Avenue.
Please Note
- Certain items won’t be permitted into the zone, including backpacks, bags and alcohol.
- There will be exceptions for Penn Station travelers with backpacks and luggage.
- Fans leaving Madison Square Garden following the game will be guided either north or south outside of the security perimeter.
- Officials strongly encourage attendees to utilize public transportation to and from the Garden.
- No significant disruptions to train service are anticipated.
