The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) is hosting the NYC Small Business Month Expo on Thursday, May 29th from 9 am – 4 pm at 415 Fifth Avenue.

During the Expo, small business owners of all stages, industries, and boroughs will be able to access free services from 100+ city programs, agencies, and partners. Register here.

SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: FLATIRON PLATE

It’s Small Business Month! Throughout May, we’ll be highlighting small businesses in Flatiron & NoMad across sectors that you can support all year round.

This week, we’re spotlighting Flatiron Plate, the food and beverage kiosk located on the Flatiron South Plaza. Founded by Perry Mallas, Flatiron Plate offers a delicious, all-day menu with highlights including, healthy smoothies, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. The kiosk also offers an array of hot and cold beverages as well as beer and wine.

Stop by Flatiron Plate for a bite to eat and enjoy public seating next to the iconic Flatiron Building!

ATTEND THE NYCXDESIGN KEYNOTE AT IBM FLAGSHIP

Join NYCxDesign and IBM on May 16th at 2 pm at IBM One Madison Avenue for an inside look at how one of the world’s largest and most established creative organizations is adopting, developing, and integrating AI into the heart of its design practice.

This 90-minute session will feature speakers from IBM’s Blue Studio, IBM iX, and collaborators from the creative community. A 60-minute reception and networking session with light bites and refreshments will follow. Register here.

Link NYC LinkLocal Program: LinkNYC has expanded its free ad offerings for local small businesses. Creative features that were previously only available through the paid LinkLocal Plus tier are now free for all LinkLocal users. LinkNYC has partnered with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to host monthly webinars that help New York City-based organizations learn how to take advantage of the LinkLocal program.

Mastercard Small Business Summit: In support of Small Business Month, join Mastercard’s Small Business Summit at their NYC Tech Hub (150 Fifth Avenue) on Thursday, May 15th for an afternoon of insightful panels, product demonstrations and networking. RSVP here.

Construction Notice: The NYC Department of Design & Construction (DDC) announced pedestrian ramp construction will soon begin at various locations in Manhattan and Queens to upgrade ramps to ADA specifications. The anticipated completion of the entire project is September 2026. Location specific advisories will be distributed 72 hours prior to the start of work at each corner. Locations in Flatiron and NoMad include Madison Avenue from East 23rd Street to East 36th Street.   • Thorne: Thursday, May 8th from 10 am – 7 am on the Flatiron North Plaza

 

Street Closures:

  • East 21st Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South will be closed from 8 am – 6 pm Saturday and 9 am – 6 pm Sunday through 5/11/25 to facilitate crane operation.
  • West 22nd Street between Sixth Avenue and Fifth Avenue will be closed from 6 am – 3 pm Saturday and Sunday through 5/11/25 to facilitate crane operation.
