Día de Muertos Returns Next Week!

From October 28 – November 1, join us for a week long Día de Muertos celebration with interactive, family-friendly events throughout Flatiron & NoMad.

Some events include:

  • Monday, October 28, 4-6 pm:
    Taste of Mexico: Free Food Sampling at Local Participating Restaurants, including TacombiMamazul, & Casa Carmen.
  • Wednesday, October 30, 12-3 pm:
    Family-Friendly Día de Muertos Event at Capitol Plaza (50 West 27th Street).
  • Friday, November 1, 3-7 pm:
    Día de Muertos Celebration at Flatiron North Plaza.
  • Monday, October 28 – Friday, October 1: Outdoor Photo Exhibit:
    Living Memories: Portraits of Día de Muertos by Fernando Avila Aguilar at Iron23 (29 West 23rd Street).

Meet Fernando Avila Aguilar, photographer behind Flatiron & NoMad’s upcoming outdoor photo exhibit Living Memories: Portraits of Día de Muertos as part of Día de Muertos Week.

Each photo in the exhibit features Día de Muertos celebrations around Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, México and can be viewed on the façade of Iron23 at 29 West 23rd Street from Monday, October 28 – Friday, November 1.

Q3 2024 Economic Report

The Q3 2024 Economic Report offers a snapshot of the economic health of our district; we discuss the state of our ground floor retail, major lease signings, and return to office rates.

Some Q3 2024 Economic Report highlights:

  • IBM and Chelsea Piers opened at One Madison, bringing the building to 100% retail occupancy.
  • In Q3 the District saw a 53% year-over-year increase in Class A and B leased SF.
  • September return-to-office numbers were the highest of the year so far, with an average of 59,126 daily office workers coming to the District Monday through Friday.

The Midtown South Mixed-Use Plan (MSMX) seeks to foster vibrant, 24/7 mixed-use neighborhoods across 42 blocks of Midtown South.

National Women’s Small Business Month: Throughout October, LinkNYC is offering free advertising space on their kiosks for women-owned small businesses across the five boroughs. Learn more here.

Plan Ahead for NYC Veterans Day Parade: The NYC Veterans Day Parade will take place on Monday, November 11th at 12:30 pm. Parade route includes Fifth Avenue from 26th Street to 48th Street. Broadway from 25th to 29th Street and the Flatiron North Plaza will be closed for Parade staging and operations.

Neighborhood Activations:

  • Food Truck: Sunday, October 27th on the Flatiron North Plaza.

 

Street Closures:

  • West 21st Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue will be closed from 6 am – 2 pm Saturday and Sunday through November 10th for window cleaning and painting from boom truck.
  • West 29th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue will be closed from 7 am – 3 pm Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th to excavate and install conduit for new major service.
