Día de Muertos Returns this Month

From October 28 – November 1, join us for a week long Día de Muertos celebration with interactive, family-friendly events throughout Flatiron & NoMad!

Some events include:

  • Monday, October 28, 4-6 pm:
    Food Sampling at Local Participating Mexican Restaurants, including TacombiMamazul, & Casa Carmen.
  • Wednesday, October 30, 12-3 pm:
    Family-Friendly Día de Muertos Event at Capitol Plaza (48 West 27th Street).
  • Friday, November 1, 3-7 pm:
    Día de Muertos Celebration at Flatiron North Plaza.

Annual Meeting Recap

The Flatiron NoMad Partnership held our 18th Annual Meeting & Community Reception on Tuesday, September 30 at the Simons Foundation where we welcomed 195+ attendees.

The meeting featured a keynote speech by Ya-Ting Liu, NYC’s Chief Public Realm Officer. Additional speakers included NYC Department of Small Business Services Commissioner Dynishal Gross and New York City Council Member Keith Powers.

Welcome Flatiron NoMad Partnership’s Newest Team Member

Flatiron NoMad Partnership recently welcomed Peter Steiner to the team!

In September, Peter joined the partnership as the new Director of Field Operations. Peter brings experience in operations and public safety management, and most recently worked at the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS).

At the Partnership, Peter manages the district’s field operations, including the Partnership’s sanitation, public safety, and homeless outreach programs.

Restaurants Against Hunger: A global initiative, Restaurants Against Hunger is launching out of the US this year and is calling on restaurants to participate this October. If your business is interested, please reach out to Katie Shults here and learn more about Action Against Hunger.

Neighborhood Activations:

  • AbbVies Eczema: Wednesday, October 9th from 10 am – 7 pm on the Flatiron North Plaza.
  • Walmart: Thursday, October 10th on the Flatiron North Plaza.

 

Street Closures:

  • East 19 Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South will be closed from 7 am – 7 pm Saturday and Sunday through November 10th for DOT# 9065 at 890 Broadway-vault repairs.
  • West 21st Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue will be closed from 6 am – 2 pm Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th for window cleaning from boom truck.
  • West 29th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue will be closed from 7 am – 3 pm Saturday through October 27th to excavate and install conduit for new major service.
