We’re excited to welcome Hotel AKA NoMad to the neighborhood! Located at 131 Madison Avenue, on the corner of 31st Street, Hotel AKA NoMad will open later this spring. The hotel will be the fourth New York City location for AKA, a global leader in luxury hospitality. The boutique property will offer guests a chic and sophisticated oasis with 178 guestrooms, including 15 specialty suites. Previously home to the Roger New York Hotel, the acclaimed building will celebrate its 100th year with the unveiling of Hotel AKA NoMad. The design transformation of the property was led by internationally renowned interior designer and architect Piero Lissoni of Lissoni New York.
“Art and design have always been an important focus for AKA. Opening an AKA hotel in the NoMad district is a natural extension of our portfolio in New York City, as the neighborhood is a nexus for creativity and design,” said Larry Korman, CEO of AKA. “The Piero Lissoni project will showcase cultured and unique artistic flare to match the trendy area of downtown Manhattan where the hotel is located. We are excited to offer our discerning travelers the world’s most livable hotel among the international design destination of NoMad.”
Upon entering the hotel, guests step into a relaxing ambiance away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. The design pairs tranquility with sophistication, reflecting the rich history of the neighborhood’s architecture. The hotel design has influences from Japan to Scandinavia using natural elements and a neutral palette to create a sense of home for traveling guests. Hotel rooms and suites feature furnishings and fixtures sourced from the world’s premier artisans, including Fantini, Living Divani, Porro, and Salvatori. Specialty suites on the hotel’s top floors offer separate living areas and terraces, some with sweeping views of the Empire State Building.
In addition to luxurious accommodations, Hotel AKA NoMad has first rate amenities, including a wine bar, Technogym fitness center, a library lounge with a terrace for cinema movie screenings, among more offerings. The hotel’s culinary concept is led by award-winning chef and restauranteur, Greg Vernick, named Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic by the James Beard Foundation. Guests can sip and savor from a curated menu of high-end wines at the world-class wine bar located within the hotel’s ground floor, as well as enjoy a European-inspired breakfast on the exclusive mezzanine level.
