NYCxDESIGN Festival: WHO IS NYC FOR?
5/22
5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
19 West 24th St, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10010
On May 22nd, as part of NYCxDesign Festival, ThoughtMatter is transforming our Flatiron studio into a gallery of original works, aiming to shed light on governmental and societal shortcomings and to question who in our city really benefits from decisions made by the powers that be.
Questioning fuels creativity. It helps us embrace uncertainty in order to imagine new possibilities. Great questions provoke. They hold power accountable, encourage self-reflection and growth.
Yet societal forces try to squeeze out our instinct to inquire until all we have left are yes’s and no’s.
But New York City has never been a city that falls in line. At its best it’s a metropolis of boundless curiosity, where bullshit isn’t tolerated, the status quo is interrogated (and knocked down whenever necessary), and new paradigms are explored.
It’s this same hometown spirit that drives our studio to question it all in what promises to be an evening of inspiration, provocation and connection. You in?
