Here is the Imagination of the Black Radical (2020, Bahamas/UK)

In Here is the Imagination of the Black Radical, Rhea Storr posits Junkanoo —a Bahamian form of Carnival—as an Afrofuturist present. “This is the avant-garde,” the narrator says of the costumes, sets, and music that the Shell Saxon Superstars compose annually for Junkanoo. In a kaleidoscopic collage of sound and image, Storr shows how Junkanoo celebrations are a form of resistance for the Bahamian people.

Filmmaker Rhea Storr will join Baruch Professor Keisha Allan in conversation after the film.

**This event is in person and on Zoom**
